I wish...

I could protect him from all the other kids. I know how cruel kids can be, and I also know how sensitive he is. Today he fell and slipped in the mud. He fought back tears as the other kids laughed at him. I went to his school with clean shorts and socks, and the minute he saw me walk in the door, he burst into tears. I remember those days. I remember how hard it was to be forced to share space for 6 plus hours a day with those less than pleasant, and just down right mean other students. I know this will not be the last time something like this happens, but I promise to be there to scoop him up and share my stories (and there are a whole lot of them) of my most embarrassing moments. I love him more than anything, and when he hurts, I hurt, and I hope he knows I will ALWAYS be there for him no matter what.

Alcatraz

I had to promise Steveo that OJ was Not there.

Thank You boys...

For teaching me to stay in the moment, to not always rush, to not always stress, and to stop and look around and see the world through a childs eyes. I love you boys and promise to slow down, and I promise I will try not to flip out when things dont go as planned, because you two have proven to me time and time again, that everything will be okay. My love for you grows more and more with each moment we share. I hope to have more road trips with you my little life coaches.

Steveo's phobias

First it was hobo's, then it was Michael Jackson, then it was crickets, now its OJ Simpson. I love his random phobias. I promise to always lock the doors to protect you from all of them Steveo.

Hangin out with the coolest kids

Its funny how Elizabeth and I used to go to Venice Beach all the time. It hasnt changed, much, patchoulli scented hippies, con artists galore, starving artists under the influence of something... But this time, it was Elizabeth and Brad, Nick and I. I had a blast, enjoyed the cold air, and realized just how much our sons are like us. Little mini-me's. I hope to have more of these moments together.

Letter to Nick from Stephen Kelley

Notice the capital "N" in Nick. He is learning in school that all names should be capitalized, and I think he really got it as evidenced by his letter to his brother. Now I also noticed the period at the end of his first sentence calling Nick a loser. I see we still need to work on what constitutes a complete sentence because " and I have better grades than you" is simply not a complete sentence. I do have to say, that although Nick did not find this letter amusing or witty in any way, I am proud of Steve-o's writing progress.

My little Irish man

Steve-o is so proud to be Irish. I just bought him a big map of Ireland for his room. Yesterday, his class colored leprechauns, and he named his Sean Patrick Kelley after his father. Now he walks around the house asking me where Sean Patrick Kelley is. Its kinda weird, but in a cute way.
